Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer. His death was announced by his daughter, Kira Taiwo, during an Instagram live session on Sunday.
The news comes just days after Ogogo’s family publicly appealed for urgent medical assistance, revealing that his health had deteriorated and that he was battling advanced cancer.
Ogogo was one of the respected names in Yoruba-language Nollywood, building a career spanning several decades as an actor, producer, director and screenwriter. He was known for his memorable performances in numerous Yoruba films and productions.
His death has triggered an outpouring of grief from fans, colleagues and members of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Ogogo’s passing marks the loss of one of the veteran figures who helped shape Yoruba cinema and Nollywood over several decades.
