The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has outlined plans to transform key sectors of the state if elected governor in the 2027 election.
Odii said his proposed agenda would focus on healthcare, education, agriculture and economic development, with the aim of creating more opportunities for residents and strengthening the state’s economy.
Speaking to party supporters and stakeholders in Abakaliki, Odii said his campaign would be based on policy issues and inclusive governance. He also called on political actors to avoid violence, intimidation and other forms of confrontation during the election campaign.
Under his proposed development plan, Odii has promised free and compulsory education from primary to secondary school, as well as free tertiary education for Ebonyi indigenes studying medicine, specialised sciences and critical technology-related courses.
He has also proposed changes in agriculture, including measures to support farmers, improve incomes, expand agro-processing and develop an agro-industrial park for major crops.
Healthcare is another major part of the candidate’s programme. Odii has pledged to expand affordable healthcare services across Ebonyi’s 13 local government areas, while also promising greater attention to human capital development.
On the wider economy, Odii has previously said he wants to reduce Ebonyi’s dependence on federal allocations by developing its agricultural and solid-mineral resources and attracting private-sector investment. His proposed economic agenda also includes youth development, creative industries and an improved environment for businesses.
The PDP candidate has also said that, if elected, his administration would prioritise practical projects that directly affect residents rather than what he described as “white elephant” projects. His stated priorities include rural access roads, education, primary healthcare, farming and security.
Odii emerged as the PDP candidate for the February 6, 2027 Ebonyi governorship election. His campaign is now taking its message to communities across the state as political parties prepare for the election.
The promises remain campaign commitments and would depend on the outcome of the election and subsequent implementation if Odii takes office.
