OOU Strengthens Collaboration With CBN for Enhanced Service Delivery

The renewed commitment followed a recent visit by a delegation from the university to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Abeokuta branch. The engagement was aimed at deepening ties between the academic institution and Nigeria’s apex financial regulator while improving practical knowledge and professional exposure in the financial sector.

The delegation was led by the Director of the OOU Business School, Professor Bamidele Ilo, alongside the Head of the Department of Banking and Finance, Dr James Obadeyemi, and other academic staff. They were received by the CBN Abeokuta Branch Controller, Malik Ademola, and members of the branch management team.

Professor Ilo said stronger partnerships between universities and institutions in the financial sector were important to ensure that teaching and research remain relevant to changes in the economy and banking industry.

He said the collaboration could create opportunities for research, policy discussions, knowledge sharing, staff development, guest lectures, seminars and joint academic initiatives.

The partnership is also expected to help bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice, giving lecturers and students greater exposure to real-world developments in banking and finance.

Both OOU and the CBN recognised the potential benefits of sustained engagement, particularly in financial-sector research, capacity building, knowledge exchange and professional development.

The visit further reflects OOU’s efforts to build strategic partnerships with key institutions that can support its teaching, research and community development objectives
