Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has felicitated with Deltans on the New Year, expressing gratitude to God for His protection and sustenance over the state and its people in the past year.
In a New Year message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor described 2026 as a season of renewed hope, fresh beginnings and collective responsibility, urging citizens to approach the year with optimism, courage and unity of purpose.
Governor Oborevwori commended the resilience, patience and peaceful disposition of Deltans, noting that the modest but impactful gains recorded across key sectors were achieved through the collective commitment of the people to progress.
He assured that the pains, hopes and aspirations of Deltans remained central to his administration’s agenda, reaffirming that government would intensify efforts in good governance, infrastructural renewal, job creation, youth empowerment, enhanced security and inclusive economic growth in line with the MORE Agenda.
The Governor also called on residents to shun violence, embrace peaceful coexistence and uphold the values of hard work, tolerance and patriotism, stressing that lasting peace is the bedrock of sustainable development and social harmony.
He appealed to political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration with government, emphasizing that building a stronger, fairer and more prosperous Delta State is a shared responsibility.
While wishing Deltans a peaceful, prosperous and fulfilling New Year, Governor Oborevwori expressed confidence in the collective destiny of the state, assuring that his administration would remain steadfast in delivering people-oriented policies and projects aimed at improving the quality of life and ensuring sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
