Arsenal are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Newcastle United over the signing of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães, with the final transfer package expected to exceed £75 million if an agreement is reached.

The Premier League giants have intensified efforts to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season, identifying Guimarães as one of their priority targets after weeks of monitoring the Newcastle captain. Reports indicate that significant progress has been made in discussions between the clubs, although the deal has not yet been finalised.

Talks Progress as Arsenal Push for Agreement

According to reports, Arsenal have advanced negotiations through intermediaries, with discussions centred on a transfer fee expected to surpass £75 million, including potential performance-related add-ons. Personal terms are also understood to be progressing positively between the player and the North London club.

While optimism is growing that an agreement can be reached, Newcastle have maintained that no formal club-to-club offer has yet been submitted, despite acknowledging continued speculation surrounding their captain's future.

Newcastle Reluctant to Lose Captain

Guimarães remains one of Newcastle's most influential players, having established himself as a leader in midfield since joining the club.

The Magpies are understood to be reluctant to sanction the departure of their captain unless their valuation is fully met, particularly after already reshaping parts of their squad during the current transfer window. Reports suggest Newcastle are seeking a fee closer to £80 million, while Arsenal hope ongoing negotiations can bridge the gap between the two clubs.

Arsenal Seek Midfield Reinforcement

Manager Andoni Iraola is keen to add experience and quality to Arsenal's midfield as the club prepares for another campaign challenging for major domestic and European honours.

Guimarães is regarded as one of the Premier League's most complete midfielders, capable of dictating possession, breaking up opposition attacks and contributing creatively in the final third.

His leadership qualities and consistent performances for both Newcastle and Brazil have made him one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe.

Deal Still Awaiting Final Approval

Although negotiations have reached an advanced stage, several details remain to be resolved before the transfer can be completed.

The structure of the payment, potential bonuses and final contractual arrangements are among the issues still under discussion between the clubs.

Until an official agreement is announced, Guimarães remains a Newcastle United player. However, with talks progressing and both sides continuing discussions, Arsenal will be hoping to conclude one of the summer's biggest Premier League transfers in the coming days.
