Ganduje: Obi, Kwankwaso Have No Legacy to Win 2027 Presidential Election

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has said that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso do not possess the political legacy or track record needed to win Nigeria's 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during a political engagement, Ganduje argued that the APC remains the country's strongest political platform and expressed confidence that the ruling party would retain power in the next general election.

According to him, electoral success depends not only on popularity but also on a demonstrable record of governance, party structure and nationwide political support. He maintained that the APC has continued to strengthen its presence across the country and remains well-positioned ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ganduje also praised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing ongoing economic reforms, infrastructure development and policy initiatives as evidence of the party's commitment to national development.

His remarks come amid growing political realignments and early consultations ahead of the 2027 general election, with political parties expected to intensify coalition talks, grassroots mobilization and internal preparations over the coming months.

Supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso have previously argued that both politicians have established records in public office and continue to enjoy significant grassroots support across different parts of the country. Neither Obi nor Kwankwaso had publicly responded to Ganduje's latest comments at the time of publication.

Political analysts say such exchanges are likely to become more frequent as parties position themselves for the next election cycle. They note that while endorsements and political statements can influence public debate, the outcome of the 2027 presidential election will ultimately depend on party primaries, campaign strategies, voter turnout and the performance of candidates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has yet to release the official timetable for the 2027 general election, and political parties are expected to continue consultations and strategic planning in the lead-up to the polls.

Ganduje reiterated the APC's confidence in its electoral prospects, insisting that the party's organisational strength and governing experience would remain key factors as Nigeria prepares for another presidential contest.
