Opposition Party Calls for Urgent Economic Measures
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri to take urgent steps to address the rising levels of hunger and poverty affecting residents across the state.
The party expressed concern over the economic challenges facing many households, urging the state government to implement policies and programmes aimed at improving livelihoods, creating jobs and easing the cost-of-living pressures.
According to the PDP, greater attention should be given to initiatives that promote food security, economic growth and social welfare.
The party encouraged the government to strengthen support for farmers, small businesses and vulnerable groups, while investing in infrastructure and other projects that could stimulate sustainable development across Bayelsa State.
The opposition party stressed the importance of responsive governance and constructive engagement with citizens to address pressing socio-economic concerns.
It also urged the state administration to prioritize transparency and accountability in the implementation of development programmes designed to improve living standards.
As of the time of reporting, the Bayelsa State Government had not issued an official response to the PDP's remarks.
Political observers say discussions surrounding economic development and poverty reduction are likely to remain central issues in the state's public discourse as stakeholders continue to advocate for policies that improve the welfare of residents.
