Federico Chiesa has reportedly decided to remain at Liverpool despite strong transfer interest from Atletico Madrid and several Serie A clubs, choosing instead to fight for his place under new manager Andoni Iraola ahead of the 2026–27 season.

The Italy international, whose future had been the subject of intense speculation throughout the summer transfer window, is said to have informed interested clubs that his priority is to succeed at Anfield rather than pursue a move elsewhere.

Chiesa Commits to Liverpool

According to multiple reports, Chiesa has rejected approaches from Atletico Madrid as well as interest from Serie A sides including Roma, Napoli, Como, and former club Fiorentina.

Instead, the 28-year-old forward believes the arrival of Iraola represents an opportunity for a fresh start after limited playing opportunities under former manager Arne Slot.

Speaking during Liverpool's pre-season tour, Chiesa reaffirmed his commitment to the club.

"Right now, I am happy here at Liverpool. I love the club, I love the fans, I love everything. I am doing the best I can to have a chance here. At the minute, the only thing I am thinking about is Liverpool," Chiesa said.

Fresh Opportunity Under Iraola

Chiesa endured a frustrating first two seasons at Liverpool, struggling for regular starts despite showing flashes of his quality.

However, Iraola's appointment has opened the door to renewed competition within the squad. During pre-season, the Spanish coach has experimented with Chiesa in more advanced attacking positions, including a central striking role, highlighting his versatility and willingness to adapt.

The Italian international has embraced the challenge, describing the new campaign as "a new chapter" in his Liverpool career.

Atletico Madrid Miss Out

Atletico Madrid had reportedly emerged as one of the strongest contenders for Chiesa's signature, with manager Diego Simeone keen to strengthen his attacking options.

A return to Serie A also appeared possible, but Chiesa's decision effectively ends those prospects for now as he focuses on earning a bigger role at Liverpool.

Liverpool's Plans

Liverpool are expected to continue strengthening their squad before the transfer window closes, but Chiesa's decision gives Iraola another experienced attacking option as the Reds prepare for a demanding campaign in the Premier League and European competition.

With his contract running until 2028, Chiesa now faces the challenge of translating his determination into consistent performances and proving he can become an important part of Liverpool's long-term plans.
