Bayern Munich have been linked with a possible move for Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz, while reports have also raised the possibility of a swap involving Bayern winger Michael Olise.
Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025 after Bayern had previously held discussions with the Germany international. However, reports in recent days have revived speculation about a potential return to the Bundesliga.
Christian Falk of CF Bayern Insider has clarified that Bayern are not currently planning a move for Wirtz. He reported that there is a long-standing connection between the player and the Munich club, but said there is currently nothing concrete being planned.
Falk did, however, say Wirtz could become an option for Bayern in the future if he were to become available. He added that the midfielder would be a player of interest if Bayern needed reinforcement in his position.
The speculation has also been linked to Michael Olise's situation at Bayern. The French international has a contract with the Bundesliga club until 2029, and Bayern are reportedly keen to secure his long-term future.
Falk suggested that if Olise eventually decided against extending his contract and Bayern considered selling him, the club could potentially use the funds to pursue Wirtz. A direct swap involving Wirtz and Olise has subsequently been discussed in transfer reports, although there is no confirmed agreement between Bayern and Liverpool.
Bayern have previously made clear that they value Olise highly. Club chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said in July that the winger would not be leaving and noted that he still had three years remaining on his contract.
Wirtz's future has attracted attention because of his adaptation to Liverpool. Reports have questioned his early output, although Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has defended the midfielder and argued that his contribution should not be judged solely by goals and assists.
For now, the proposed Wirtz-Olise exchange remains transfer speculation rather than a completed negotiation. Bayern's reported interest in Wirtz is described as conditional on his future availability, while Olise remains under contract in Munich.
