Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Estevao Willian’s situation at Chelsea amid reports that the Brazilian winger is frustrated by his limited playing time under manager Xabi Alonso.
The 19-year-old has struggled to secure a regular place in Chelsea’s starting XI since Alonso took charge. He has made only four late Premier League substitute appearances this season, totalling 23 minutes, while his two starts have come in the Carabao Cup.

Catalan newspaper Sport reports that Barcelona are monitoring the situation, with sporting director Deco understood to have maintained an interest in the player since his breakthrough at Palmeiras.
Estevao’s limited role has reportedly raised concerns about his development, particularly as he arrived at Chelsea with high expectations after an impressive first season in England. He scored eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions last campaign.
Competition for attacking positions has made his route into the team difficult. Alonso has largely relied on Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in the attacking positions, while Estevao has had to wait for opportunities from the bench.
However, Estevao has publicly played down suggestions that he is seeking an immediate departure from Stamford Bridge. Speaking while on international duty with Brazil, he said he was focused on improving in training and making the most of his opportunities.
Alonso has also insisted that Estevao remains part of his plans. The Chelsea manager previously said the youngster has shown a positive attitude in training and that the long season should provide opportunities for him to contribute.
Reports that Barcelona could make a move therefore remain speculative at this stage. Estevao is under contract with Chelsea until 2033, and his camp is reportedly not currently pushing for a transfer.
Barcelona’s interest could nevertheless become significant if the Brazilian continues to struggle for regular Premier League football. For now, Estevao’s immediate objective appears to be earning Alonso’s trust and establishing himself at Chelsea.
