The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has extended its 2027 election mobilisation efforts to Nigerians living in the United States, with a campaign engagement held in Chicago.
The engagement followed the inauguration of the Chicago chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Diaspora and brought together members of the Nigerian community and APC supporters, according to a statement from the diaspora campaign committee.
Gbolahan Gbadamosi, Director of the Lagos APC PBAT-KOH Special Duties Committee on Diaspora, led the campaign message at the event. He urged Nigerians in the diaspora to engage their families, communities and networks in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.
Gbadamosi highlighted what he described as reforms and interventions by President Bola Tinubu's administration in areas including the economy, education and infrastructure. He also cited efforts by the government to address national security and promote long-term development.
He called for what he described as continuity of the administration's reform agenda and urged diaspora supporters to strengthen communication and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
The campaign official also promoted the governorship candidacy of Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as a politician with experience in Lagos governance. He said the proposed “Forward Lagos Agenda” should build on existing development efforts in the state.
APC United Kingdom Chairman Tunde Doherty also attended the Chicago engagement. He encouraged Nigerians to remain involved in the democratic process and urged support for Tinubu, Hamzat and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The Chicago meeting forms part of the Lagos APC's broader diaspora mobilisation strategy. The party formally inaugurated its Lagos campaign council earlier in September, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu named chairman, Hamzat as deputy chairman and former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro as Director-General.
The Lagos APC has said its campaign will focus on grassroots mobilisation and communicating the records and policies of APC-led governments. Party officials have also urged candidates and supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and within the law.
The Chicago outreach is therefore part of the party's ongoing preparations for the 2027 elections, although the actual outcome of the election will depend on voters and the eventual electoral process.
