Abuja: Parts of FCT to Experience Power Outage Sunday for TCN Maintenance

According to TCN, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and will involve the stringing and latching of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the two 132kV Katampe–Apo transmission lines.

The company explained that the maintenance work will affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to receive electricity for distribution to customers in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

Areas expected to be affected include Lugbe, Garki, Area 1, National Hospital, Guzape and Asokoro, as well as surrounding communities.

TCN said the planned exercise is necessary to carry out work on the transmission infrastructure and appealed to electricity consumers in the affected areas to make alternative arrangements during the maintenance period.

The company also indicated that power supply would be affected only during the scheduled maintenance window, meaning residents should expect electricity services to resume after the work is completed, subject to any unforeseen technical issues.

The notice is intended to help residents, businesses and other electricity users plan ahead and minimise the disruption that may result from the temporary outage.
