Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard takes new role alongside Man Utd icon Gary Neville

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has taken on a new role working alongside former Manchester United defender Gary Neville on a new football programme, bringing two former Premier League rivals together in the world of football broadcasting.

Gerrard has joined Neville’s new YouTube venture, The Overlap Daily, where he will regularly feature on the Monday edition of the show alongside sports presenter Becky Ives.

The move represents another step in Gerrard’s growing involvement in football media after his managerial career included spells with Rangers, Aston Villa and Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq.

The former England midfielder returned to punditry with TNT Sports for the 2026/27 season, where his role was expanded to include regular appearances across Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup coverage.

Gerrard and Neville spent much of their playing careers on opposite sides of one of English football’s biggest rivalries. Gerrard became a Liverpool icon after making more than 700 appearances for the club, while Neville spent his entire senior playing career at Manchester United.

Their new working relationship follows the success of Neville’s existing football media projects, including The Overlap and Stick to Football. The latter has featured Gerrard as a guest alongside Neville, Jamie Carragher and other former players.

The Overlap Daily is designed to provide regular football discussion, analysis and reaction, with former players and broadcasters contributing throughout the week. Gerrard will be among a wider group of football personalities involved in the programme, including Joe Hart, Jamie Redknapp, Ashley Young and Peter Schmeichel.

For Gerrard, the role provides another opportunity to remain closely connected to the game after leaving management. His previous coaching career saw him guide Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in the 2020/21 season before later taking charge of Aston Villa and Al Ettifaq.

The partnership with Neville also highlights how former Premier League rivals are increasingly working together in football broadcasting. Despite their clubs’ historic rivalry, both have established successful media careers since retiring from professional football.

Gerrard is now set to become a regular presence on The Overlap Daily, adding his experience as a former Liverpool captain, Champions League winner and England international to Neville’s growing football media operation.
