Delta Govt Urges Youths to Apply as Police Constable Recruitment Opens

 


The Delta State Government has called on suitably qualified youths of Delta State origin to take advantage of the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force as Police Constables.

The call follows a directive by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with the Police Service Commission (PSC) inviting applications from eligible Nigerians, both male and female, for enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the announcement, applications are to be submitted free of charge via the official Nigeria Police recruitment portal at https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The recruitment covers General Duty and Specialist categories. Areas of enlistment include General Duty, Medical Assistance, Drivers, Mechanics, Auto Electricians, Dispatch and Escort Riders, Forensic Assistants, Robotics and Drones, Explosive Ordnance Disposal–CBRN operatives, Dog Handlers, Horse Riders, Dockhands/Able Seamen, Marine-related technicians, artisans, tailors, ICT personnel, communication experts, and musical equipment specialists, among others.

Applicants for General Duty must be between 18 and 25 years, while Specialist Applicants must not be more than 28 years. General Duty applicants are required to possess a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in GCE O’Level, SSCE, NECO or equivalent, in not more than two sittings. Specialist applicants must have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, as well as a minimum of three years’ relevant experience and appropriate trade tests.

All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a National Identification Number (NIN), functional email address and phone number, be physically and mentally fit, and be of good character with no criminal record. General Duty male applicants must be at least 1.67 metres tall, while females must be at least 1.64 metres, with male applicants also required to have a minimum expanded chest measurement of 86cm.

Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of entry or throughout the training period. Applicants must also be free from physical deformities and financial embarrassment. Successful candidates will undergo physical and medical examinations, aptitude tests, and background checks.

The recruitment portal opened on December 15, 2025, and will close on January 25, 2026.

The Delta State Government, through the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, said it is encouraging all qualified youths of Delta State origin to apply without delay. The committee has also been directed to provide necessary assistance to applicants from the state.

The recruitment exercise, the government noted, aligns with the job and wealth creation agenda of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, JP, aimed at expanding employment opportunities for Deltans.
