Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has held talks with the United States envoy on strengthening security cooperation between both countries, with discussions centered on addressing shared security challenges and expanding bilateral collaboration.

According to officials, the meeting focused on counterterrorism efforts, intelligence sharing, regional stability, and measures to enhance cooperation in tackling emerging security threats affecting Nigeria and the wider West African region.

Ribadu reaffirmed the Nigerian government's commitment to working closely with international partners to improve national security, combat terrorism, and protect lives and critical infrastructure.

The U.S. envoy reiterated Washington's support for Nigeria's security and development objectives, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in areas such as capacity building, information sharing, and professional training for security personnel.

Both sides also discussed the need for stronger partnerships to address transnational crimes, including terrorism, violent extremism, cybercrime, and illegal trafficking, while promoting peace and stability across the region.

The meeting reflects the longstanding security partnership between Nigeria and the United States, as both countries continue to deepen cooperation on issues of mutual interest through diplomatic engagement and joint security initiatives.
