England Defender Set for Move to Emirates in £50m Transfer
Arsenal have agreed a deal with Aston Villa to sign England defender Ezri Konsa, in a major move to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s defence ahead of the new Premier League season. Reports put the agreement at around £50 million plus add-ons.
The 28-year-old is expected to undergo his medical before completing the transfer, with personal terms also understood to have been agreed.
Why Arsenal Want Konsa
Konsa has emerged as a key target after Arsenal suffered defensive setbacks involving William Saliba and Jurriën Timber.
His ability to play both centre-back and right-back makes him particularly valuable to Arteta as Arsenal prepare for another demanding campaign.
Arsenal had previously considered Bayer Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah, but negotiations over Konsa have now advanced significantly.
Big Move for Villa Defender
Konsa has been an important player for Aston Villa and was part of the club's successful recent campaigns. His departure represents another significant change for Unai Emery's side after several major exits this summer.
For Arsenal, the deal provides an experienced Premier League defender capable of immediately filling the gap created by injuries.
If he completes his medical, Konsa will become one of Arsenal's major defensive additions of the summer transfer window.
