Arsenal have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential deal for England defender Jarell Quansah, according to reports.

The 23-year-old only joined Leverkusen from Liverpool last summer, but Arsenal are now exploring a move as they look to strengthen their defence with William Saliba and Jurriën Timber sidelined by injuries.

Quansah Emerges as Alternative to Konsa

Arsenal had previously pursued Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, but Villa's reported £60 million valuation has made negotiations difficult.

Quansah offers Arsenal another option, with the England international capable of playing centre-back and right-back.

Leverkusen are believed to value the defender at around €50 million (£43 million) and are reluctant to lose him after just one season in Germany.

Liverpool Could Be Watching

Quansah's possible move to Arsenal could also attract attention at Liverpool. The defender's former club negotiated a buy-back option when he moved to Leverkusen, although Liverpool did not activate it this summer.

For Arsenal, the priority is clear: add reliable defensive cover before injuries leave Mikel Arteta short of options.

No agreement has been reached yet, but talks with Leverkusen could determine whether Quansah makes an unexpected return to the Premier League.
