Julian Alvarez is reportedly open to joining Arsenal this summer, although the Argentina striker still has doubts about leaving Atletico Madrid and returning to England.
Alvarez has previously favoured a move to Barcelona, which he reportedly considers his dream destination. However, with Barcelona stepping back from the race, Arsenal have emerged as a serious alternative.
Arsenal are understood to have made an opening offer of around £103 million plus £4 million in add-ons, while Atletico are reportedly seeking about £129 million for the 26-year-old forward.
The situation has become increasingly tense in Madrid. Alvarez missed Atletico's opening LaLiga match against Malaga, with manager Diego Simeone saying the striker was not yet in the right condition to play. Atletico won the match 2-0.
Despite the uncertainty, Alvarez remains under contract with Atletico and the club has previously insisted that it does not want to sell him.
For Arsenal, however, the opportunity to sign a proven Argentina international could represent one of the biggest moves of the transfer window.
With the transfer deadline approaching, Alvarez now faces a major decision over whether to remain in Madrid or begin a new chapter in North London.
