Osun Governorship Election Produces Tight Two-Way Contest
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has won 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured 11 LGAs, according to results from Saturday’s governorship election.
The result gives Adeleke a clear lead in the number of local governments won, while Oyebamiji maintained a strong showing across several APC-leaning areas.
The election was marked by high political tension, reports of violence, alleged vote-buying and technical difficulties with BVAS in some polling units.
With results from all 30 LGAs now accounted for, attention has shifted to the final collation and official declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The outcome represents a major moment for Osun politics, with Adeleke seeking to retain the governorship and Oyebamiji campaigning on the platform of the APC to take control of the state.
