A powerful tornado swept through France’s Aude region, damaging more than 300 homes and injuring 15 people, according to local authorities.
The tornado struck near Pomas and Verzeille on Monday as severe thunderstorms followed an intense heatwave. Strong winds smashed windows, damaged roofs and caused widespread destruction.
Emergency teams were deployed to the affected areas as authorities assessed the damage.
The storm has left communities in Aude facing a major cleanup operation after one of the region’s most severe weather events in recent years.
