Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other senior government officials to intervene in the continued detention of its national president, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo.
The North-Central leadership of the Fulani socio-cultural organisation made the appeal during a press conference in Karu, Nasarawa State, saying Bodejo’s continued detention had raised concerns among his family, supporters and members of the wider pastoralist community.
The group also called on National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress and relevant security agencies to review the circumstances surrounding Bodejo’s detention.
According to North-Central chairman Idris Gidado-Bebeji, the organisation is not seeking to interfere with any legitimate investigation or place Bodejo above the law. Instead, he said the group wants the matter handled fairly and in accordance with the Constitution and applicable laws.
Miyetti Allah alleged that Bodejo was initially arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services in Jalingo, Taraba State, on the day he declared his intention to contest the Taraba Central senatorial seat. The organisation said he was subsequently transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, where he spent several months in custody.
The group further alleged that Bodejo was rearrested by DSS operatives on August 28, 2026, after previously being released from EFCC custody. It called for the legal basis of his continued detention to be reviewed and urged authorities to release him if further detention is not legally necessary.
Bodejo is also facing a separate money-laundering case before the Federal High Court in Abuja. The EFCC arraigned him in July over allegations involving millions of dollars, charges to which he pleaded not guilty. The court subsequently granted him bail of N2 billion, subject to conditions.
The political dimension of the dispute has also become more pronounced. Miyetti Allah leaders have warned that the continued detention of their president could affect their political support ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group said it would consider directing its support toward politicians who demonstrate concern for the interests of its members.
However, the organisation urged its members and the wider pastoralist community to remain calm and law-abiding while pursuing dialogue and constitutional channels to resolve the matter.
The appeal now places additional pressure on the Federal Government to clarify Bodejo’s legal status and address concerns raised by the group, while ensuring that any ongoing investigation or prosecution follows due process
