AS Monaco produced a stunning comeback to defeat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 at the Parc des Princes, while Troy Parrott scored the decisive goal as Real Betis handed Real Madrid their first La Liga defeat of the season.
Monaco Fight Back Against PSG
PSG appeared on course for their first Ligue 1 victory of the season after Marquinhos opened the scoring in the 31st minute. However, Monaco responded strongly after the break, with Flavio Nazinho equalising in the 58th minute before Stanis Idumbo completed the comeback in the 72nd minute.
The result is a major boost for Monaco, who remain unbeaten in the league and moved to the top of the early Ligue 1 standings. Goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký was also crucial, producing a series of important saves to protect Monaco's lead.
For PSG, the defeat extends a difficult start to the domestic campaign. Luis Enrique's side had drawn their opening two league matches before suffering their first defeat against Monaco.
Parrott Stuns Real Madrid
In Spain, Real Betis pulled off another major upset by beating Real Madrid 1-0 at La Cartuja. The match remained goalless until the 81st minute, when substitute Troy Parrott reacted quickest to a rebound and fired Betis ahead.
Real Madrid pushed hard for an equaliser, but Betis goalkeeper Álvaro Valles became the hero. Kylian Mbappé hit the crossbar before Madrid had a late goal ruled out for offside, while Valles then saved Mbappé's stoppage-time penalty to secure all three points.
The defeat ended Real Madrid's perfect start to the La Liga season under José Mourinho. Parrott's goal also marked a memorable moment for the Irish striker, who had only come on in the 68th minute before making the decisive impact.
Both results underline how quickly the European league campaigns can change. Monaco have announced themselves as early contenders in France, while Betis have delivered a major statement by ending Madrid's unbeaten start.
