Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has approved the appointment of six commissioners-designate and four political aides as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the state.

The appointments were announced by the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Abubakar Usman, in a statement issued on Monday. The six commissioner nominees will, however, require screening and confirmation by the Niger State House of Assembly before taking up their positions.
The commissioners-designate are Lucky Barau of Gurara Local Government Area, Isah Wakili of Bosso, Dr Isah Adamu of Kontagora, Emmanuel Alamu of Magama, Shuaibu Saidu Kaboji of Mashegu and Mohammed Danladi Garba of Borgu.
Governor Bago also appointed Nma Kolo as Chief Political Adviser. In addition, Yahaya Emilugi, Yusuf Tagwai and Salman Yusuf were named Special Advisers on Political Matters for Zones A, B and C respectively.
According to the state government, the appointments are intended to strengthen the administration, improve public service delivery and promote broader representation across Niger State. The governor also congratulated the appointees and urged them to bring their experience and commitment to their new responsibilities.
The commissioners-designate are expected to appear before the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in accordance with the law.
The latest appointments are expected to play a role in the administration's efforts to advance its development programmes while ensuring that different parts of the state are represented in government.
With the nominees awaiting legislative confirmation, attention will now turn to the screening process and the portfolios that will be assigned to the successful commissioners.
