The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested four suspected illicit drug dealers during an operation in Gaida, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Corps’ Counter Terrorism Unit following credible intelligence and a covert operation carried out from its base in Dorayi Babba, Gwale Local Government Area.
The NSCDC identified the suspects as Abubakar Abdullahi, 35; Rabiu Baffa, 25; Aminu Lawan, 35; and Ibrahim Idris, 33. All four are residents of Gaida in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
According to the command, items recovered during the operation included four sachets of Pregabalin 300mg capsules, commonly known as “PG”, several Diazepam tablets, three tubes of Oshin Solution, as well as suspected marijuana packaged in three large packs and 20 parcels.
The Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, warned against the illegal sale and distribution of illicit drugs, particularly among young people. He described drug abuse as a serious threat to public safety and community well-being.
Agalama said the four suspects and the recovered exhibits would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano after preliminary investigation for further investigation and possible legal action.
The NSCDC also urged residents to provide credible information about suspected drug-related activities to security agencies, assuring the public that such information would be handled confidentially.
The latest arrests form part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle illicit drug activities and other offences that could undermine public safety in Kano State.
