The Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate for Anambra South in the 2027 general election, Prince Samben Nwosu, has pledged to prioritise job creation, sustainable empowerment and grassroots development if elected.
Nwosu, a former organising secretary of the PDP and former Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission, made the pledge during an interaction with journalists in Nnewi.
He said his proposed representation would focus on addressing the socio-economic needs of residents across the seven local government areas that make up Anambra South: Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Orumba North, Orumba South, Nnewi North and Nnewi South.
Nwosu said he would seek to create longer-term economic opportunities rather than relying on temporary assistance to constituents during election periods. He described his proposed empowerment programme as one designed to provide sustainable support throughout the electoral cycle.
The candidate also promised that each of the seven local government areas would have a signature project under his proposed representation. He said legislation and motions he would support in the Senate would be focused on issues affecting residents, businesses and the wider economy of the district.
He further identified youth development, education and erosion control among the issues he intends to prioritise. In a separate statement, Nwosu said he had previously helped small businesses access grants and loans and would seek to expand such opportunities if elected.
Nwosu also said his campaign would focus on engaging residents, particularly young people, to understand their economic challenges and shape his proposed legislative agenda around their needs.
On the 2027 election, the PDP candidate said voters should reject vote buying and electoral malpractice. He also expressed confidence in the PDP's grassroots structure in the senatorial district. These are political claims by the candidate and do not establish the eventual outcome of the election.
Anambra South is one of the state's three senatorial districts and covers seven local government areas. Nwosu's campaign proposals are part of the broader contest for the Senate seat ahead of the 2027 general election.
If elected, Nwosu says his representation would focus on economic opportunities, youth empowerment, education, community projects and closer engagement with constituents.
