Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring after their long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown was officially confirmed for December 11 at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.
The fight brings together two former heavyweight world champions who have spent more than a decade linked with a potential meeting. After several rounds of negotiations and uncertainty over the venue, promoter Turki Alalshikh confirmed that the blockbuster bout will take place in the United Kingdom.
The 80,000-capacity Principality Stadium will host the contest, giving British boxing fans the opportunity to watch Fury and Joshua face each other professionally for the first time. The two fighters previously shared a ring only during a sparring session in 2010.
The fight will be streamed globally on Netflix. The exact start time has not yet been announced, although organisers are considering a late start to accommodate viewers in the United States.
The announcement ends years of speculation surrounding one of boxing's most anticipated heavyweight matchups. Negotiations had previously considered venues outside Britain, including New York and Saudi Arabia, before the camps agreed to stage the event in Cardiff.
Both fighters have also returned to action this year. Fury came back from retirement and defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov before facing Mariusz Wach in July, while Joshua most recently defeated Kristian Prenga after recovering from a difficult opening round.
The build-up will begin with a joint press conference in London on September 30, when Fury and Joshua are expected to appear together publicly for the first time since the fight was officially announced.
For Cardiff, the event represents a major international sporting occasion. Principality Stadium has previously hosted major football and rugby fixtures as well as high-profile boxing events, and organisers expect the Fury-Joshua fight to attract worldwide attention.
