Jude Bellingham tipped for greatness by Roy Keane after England thrash Croatia

Roy Keane has backed Jude Bellingham to become one of the greatest footballers of all time after the England midfielder produced a standout performance in the 7-0 Nations League victory over Croatia.

Bellingham scored once and provided three assists as England recorded their biggest-ever win over Croatia in Rijeka on Saturday. His performance played a major role in a dominant display by Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Speaking on ITV after the match, former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland captain Keane praised Bellingham’s influence both with and without the ball.

Keane said he believes the 23-year-old still has significant room for development and could eventually establish himself among football’s all-time greats. He also highlighted Bellingham’s work rate and attitude when England do not have possession.

“Bellingham can go on to become one of the greatest players of all time,” Keane said, while stressing the importance of the midfielder staying fit and maintaining his focus.

Bellingham was central to England’s attacking moves throughout the match. He helped create the opening goal for Harry Kane before scoring England’s second, while also providing assists as the Three Lions continued to overwhelm Croatia.

Kane and Bukayo Saka both scored twice, while Anthony Gordon and substitute Morgan Rogers were also on the scoresheet as England completed a record-breaking victory.

The result leaves England second in Nations League League A Group Three with six points from three matches, three points behind Spain. Croatia remain on three points after suffering their heaviest defeat in international football.

Bellingham’s performance also underlined his growing leadership role within the England team. He took the captain’s armband after Kane was substituted and has increasingly become an important part of Tuchel’s plans.

England will now return to Wembley to face Czech Republic on October 6, with Bellingham expected to remain central to the team as they continue their Nations League campaign.
