The head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has expressed optimism about maintaining a constructive partnership with the United States, despite reports suggesting growing differences between the agency and the administration of President Donald Trump over refugee and humanitarian policies.

Speaking amid speculation about tensions between Washington and the UN refugee agency, the UNHCR chief said the organisation remains committed to working closely with the United States to address the escalating global displacement crisis.
