Tim Curry, ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Star, Dies at 80

Veteran British actor Tim Curry, best known for his iconic role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has died at the age of 80.                                                                                                  

                                     

Curry died at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 25, with reports saying police found no evidence of foul play.

His career spanned more than five decades across film, television and theatre. Beyond The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Curry was widely recognised for playing Pennywise in the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King’s It, as well as roles in Clue, Annie, Home Alone 2 and The Hunt for Red October.

He also enjoyed a distinguished stage career, earning three Tony Award nominations and an Emmy nomination. A stroke in 2012 significantly affected his mobility, but he continued working in voice acting and remained a beloved figure among fans.

Tim Curry leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as one of cinema and theatre’s most distinctive performers, with his unforgettable Rocky Horror performance securing his place in popular culture.
