Pep Guardiola Sends Message of Support to Former Club

Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has publicly expressed his support for the club following the independent commission’s findings on its long-running Premier League financial case.

Guardiola, who managed City from 2016 until 2026, posted a message on social media addressed to the club’s supporters, players, staff and ownership.

“I want every single Manchester City fan across the world to know I am here; more than ever,” Guardiola said. “We will get through this together. I love you all.”

The independent commission found Manchester City responsible for breaches of Premier League financial regulations covering the period from 2009/10 to 2017/18. The findings include allegations concerning financial reporting, commercial arrangements and the club’s cooperation with the league’s investigation.

City has rejected the findings and maintains that it is innocent of the accusations. The club has said it will pursue an appeal, arguing that the commission’s decision contains what it considers significant errors of fact, law and principle.

The case relates to a period that began several years before Guardiola arrived at the club, although the final two seasons covered by the investigation coincided with the early part of his tenure.

Guardiola’s message comes after he previously said he trusted the people at Manchester City and how they had conducted themselves. He has also maintained that the club should be allowed to complete the legal process before conclusions are drawn about the wider consequences.

The commission’s findings are expected to lead to a separate process concerning possible sanctions. Potential consequences could include financial penalties or sporting measures, although the final outcome will depend on the ongoing proceedings and any appeal.

Manchester City has continued to insist that the matter is not yet fully concluded. The club’s appeal could prolong the process, meaning further decisions are still expected before the case reaches its final stage.

Guardiola’s public statement adds to the reaction from former players, managers and other figures in football as the club prepares to challenge the findings. For now, City’s position remains that it will defend itself through the available legal and regulatory channels.
