According to Faniyan, the operations were carried out as part of the command’s intelligence-led approach to crime prevention. He said the results were achieved through the efforts of police personnel and information provided by members of the public.

The commissioner highlighted several arms recoveries recorded during the operations. These included an AK-47 rifle recovered in Wase Local Government Area and firearms recovered during operations in Barkin Ladi and other parts of the state.

In one operation, police said officers arrested a 24-year-old suspect in Zaramaganda Forest, Jos South Local Government Area, and recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition and two daggers.

The command also reported arrests in connection with alleged offences against persons. Faniyan said suspects were arrested over allegations including rape and the defilement of minors. He added that the victims were taken to hospital for medical examinations.

On drug-related offences, the commissioner said four suspects were arrested during a September 1 raid in Angwan Rogo, Jos. Police said substances suspected to be cannabis and other illicit drugs were recovered.

Faniyan said investigations were continuing, particularly to locate suspects who fled during some of the operations. He added that suspects would be prosecuted after investigations are completed.

The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and provide the police with timely and credible information that could assist efforts to prevent crime and strengthen security across Plateau State.
