The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, with 17 candidates representing different political parties.
The list, published on INEC’s website, includes candidates from major political parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alongside other parties preparing for the election.
Among the candidates listed are Obafemi Hamzat of the APC, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the ADC and Olugbemiga Adedeji Doherty of the PDP.
The publication of the list provides voters with an official reference for the candidates recognised by the electoral commission for the contest. However, inclusion on the list does not determine the election outcome, which will be decided through the electoral process.

APC, ADC and PDP Among Parties on the List
The APC candidate is Obafemi Hamzat, while the ADC is represented by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour. The PDP candidate listed is Adedeji Olugbemiga Doherty.
Their inclusion places the three parties among those represented in the Lagos governorship contest, alongside 14 other political parties.
The final list also features candidates from smaller parties, giving voters a range of options when the election takes place.
What the Final List Means for the 2027 Election
INEC’s publication of the list is an important step in preparations for the Lagos governorship election.
The document provides the names of the candidates and their party affiliations, helping voters, political organisations and election observers identify those listed for the contest.
Candidates and their parties will continue their preparations in accordance with applicable electoral laws and INEC’s timetable.
The list should not be confused with an election result: the candidates’ inclusion does not indicate who will win the governorship election.
Voters are encouraged to consult INEC’s official documents for the latest information on candidates and any subsequent updates to the list.
