The United States has announced that five more Ukrainian and Russian children separated from their families by the war have been successfully reunited with their relatives, marking another milestone in an ongoing humanitarian initiative aimed at returning displaced children to their homes. The latest operation represents the fifth group of children reunited since the programme began in late 2025.

According to the White House, the reunifications were facilitated through U.S.-backed diplomatic and humanitarian efforts led by First Lady Melania Trump, working alongside international partners and officials from both Ukraine and Russia. The administration did not disclose the identities of the children or specify the regions from which they were returned, citing privacy and security concerns.

Humanitarian Effort Continues

The White House said the latest mission reflects its continued commitment to reuniting families affected by the conflict, describing the return of separated children as a humanitarian priority.

Officials noted that similar operations carried out since October 2025 have resulted in dozens of children being safely returned to their families, with further cases still under negotiation.

Ongoing Concerns Over Displaced Children

The issue of children displaced during the Russia–Ukraine war has remained one of the conflict's most sensitive humanitarian concerns.
