The United States has begun lifting its naval blockade on Iranian ports and shipping routes following a newly signed agreement aimed at ending months of military confrontation between the two countries.

The move comes as both sides implement the terms of an interim peace framework that includes ending hostilities, reopening key maritime routes, and launching further negotiations over the next 60 days.

Under the agreement, the United States will gradually remove restrictions on maritime access and lift its blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran has agreed to support the restoration of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The strategic waterway is one of the world's most important routes for global oil and gas exports.

Officials from both countries say the measures are intended to reduce regional tensions and help stabilize international energy markets.

Despite the agreement, Iran's Supreme Leader reportedly criticized President Donald Trump, arguing that Washington entered the deal because of mounting pressure and strategic challenges. Iranian officials have portrayed the agreement as evidence that diplomacy ultimately prevailed over military confrontation.

The comments highlight that, while both nations have agreed to halt military operations, political differences and disagreements over the causes of the conflict remain unresolved.

The signed memorandum establishes a 60-day negotiation period during which both countries will seek a broader and more permanent settlement. Key issues expected to be discussed include regional security, sanctions, maritime access, and Iran's nuclear program.

Diplomats have described the current arrangement as an important first step rather than a final peace treaty, emphasizing that substantial negotiations still lie ahead.

The reopening of maritime routes and the easing of restrictions on shipping have been welcomed by energy traders and international businesses.

Analysts believe improved access through the Strait of Hormuz could help stabilize global oil supplies and reduce uncertainty in energy markets after months of disruption.

With military operations halted and diplomatic talks underway, international attention is now focused on whether Washington and Tehran can transform the temporary agreement into a lasting peace arrangement.

The next two months are expected to be critical as negotiators work to address long-standing disputes and build on one of the most significant diplomatic breakthroughs between the United States and Iran in recent years.
