France Overcome Morocco to Book Last-Four Spot
France advanced to the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals with a commanding 2-0 victory over Morocco, ending the Atlas Lions' impressive tournament run.
After a goalless first half, France's quality proved decisive as Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé found the net to secure a place in the final four.
Mbappé endured an early setback when his first-half penalty was saved, but the France captain responded in style by curling home the opening goal just after the hour mark.
Dembélé doubled France's advantage six minutes later, finishing off a move created by Mbappé to put the result beyond doubt. The goal took Mbappé to 20 World Cup goals, equalling Hugo Lloris' French record for World Cup appearances while keeping him among the tournament's leading scorers.
France controlled much of the contest and recorded a third consecutive clean sheet in the knockout stage. Morocco struggled to create clear opportunities and did not register a shot on target until the closing stages of the match.
