Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani will visit Tehran as Doha steps up efforts to revive negotiations between the United States and Iran and ease regional tensions.
The visit will focus on de-escalation, freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and creating conditions for renewed dialogue between Washington and Tehran. Qatar has previously played a key role in mediating between the two sides.
The trip comes as disagreements over sanctions and the strategic Strait of Hormuz continue to delay a broader diplomatic breakthrough.
