Maresca reveals mood at Man City as Haaland calls for unity after Pep exit

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca says his players remain positive and focused on football despite the controversy surrounding the club’s recent financial-rule verdict. Erling Haaland has also urged supporters, players and staff to stand together ahead of two major fixtures.

City have been under increased scrutiny since an independent commission found the club guilty of numerous breaches of Premier League financial rules. Manchester City deny wrongdoing and have appealed the verdict, leaving the case subject to further proceedings.

Speaking ahead of the team’s trip to Liverpool, Maresca said the players were relaxed and concentrating on their performances rather than the attention surrounding the case. He explained that the squad understands what it can control on the pitch and is focused on preparing for the challenges ahead.

The Italian manager also reaffirmed his confidence in the club’s leadership. Asked whether City’s previous achievements had been tainted by the commission’s findings, Maresca rejected that suggestion, pointing to the effort he witnessed while working at the club under former manager Pep Guardiola.

Haaland, meanwhile, has called for unity as City prepare for a demanding run of matches. The Norwegian striker said the club must remain positive, support one another and continue working towards winning games, regardless of the pressure surrounding the team.

The striker also spoke about his personal connection to Manchester City and its supporters, saying he cares deeply about the club and feels a strong bond with the fans. His message comes as City look to maintain togetherness during a period of intense public attention.

City are scheduled to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, October 11, before hosting Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday, October 14. The fixtures will test the team against two major opponents in quick succession.

Maresca has also made clear that he wants his players to concentrate on football while the legal process continues. The club’s appeal could have significant implications, but no final outcome or sanction should be treated as settled while the proceedings remain ongoing.

For now, City are attempting to keep their focus on the pitch. Maresca’s comments and Haaland’s call for unity underline the club’s effort to maintain a positive atmosphere as the team approaches an important stretch of its season.
