Belgium's search for a first victory at the 2026 FIFA World Cup will continue after the Red Devils were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Iran in their Group G clash.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Belgium could not find a way past a resilient Iranian side and an inspired goalkeeping performance from Alireza Beiranvand.

Iran produced a disciplined defensive performance to frustrate one of Europe's most talented squads.

Goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand emerged as the standout performer, making a series of crucial saves to keep Belgium's attack at bay throughout the contest. His heroics helped Iran secure a valuable point and remain firmly in contention for a place in the knockout rounds.

The Red Devils controlled much of the match, enjoying the majority of possession and creating several clear scoring opportunities.

Stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku attempted to inspire a breakthrough, but Belgium's finishing let them down on a frustrating afternoon. Coach Rudi Garcia later lamented his side's wastefulness in front of goal.

Belgium's challenge became even more difficult in the second half when defender Nathan Ngoy received a straight red card after bringing down Mehdi Taremi as the Iranian forward raced through on goal.

The dismissal forced Belgium to play the final stages of the match with ten men, although Iran were unable to capitalize on their numerical advantage.

The draw leaves Belgium with two points from their opening two matches, having also drawn their tournament opener. Iran are in a similar position, setting up a dramatic final round of group-stage fixtures.

Belgium will now face New Zealand in a must-win encounter, while Iran take on Egypt with knockout qualification still within reach for both teams.

Belgium entered the tournament as one of the favorites to progress from Group G, but two consecutive draws have increased the pressure on the squad ahead of their final group match.

While the Red Devils have shown flashes of quality, their inability to convert chances into goals has become a growing concern. Failure to secure victory in their next game could put their World Cup hopes at serious risk.

With qualification scenarios still unresolved, Group G remains one of the most competitive groups in the tournament.

Belgium will be desperate to finally secure their first win, while Iran will take confidence from a performance that demonstrated determination, discipline, and defensive resilience against one of the tournament's strongest teams.
