Police Launch Murder Investigation
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of former British politician Ann Widdecombe.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the suspect was arrested in Newton Abbot, Devon, and remains in custody while detectives continue their investigation. Authorities said there is currently no indication that the incident was politically motivated or linked to terrorism.
Widdecombe, 78, was found with serious injuries at her home in Haytor Vale, near Dartmoor National Park, on Thursday after emergency services were called to the property.
Police have established a cordon around the home as forensic officers carry out examinations and investigators conduct door-to-door inquiries.

Tributes have been paid by political leaders from across the United Kingdom following Widdecombe's death. She served as a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1987 to 2010 before later joining the Brexit Party and Reform UK.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other political figures described her as a prominent and influential public servant whose career spanned politics and television.
Police said the investigation remains in its early stages and urged the public to avoid speculation while officers establish the full circumstances surrounding Widdecombe's death.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation has been asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.
