Fedorov said a recent money-laundering investigation had raised concerns about whether Zelensky knew about alleged wrongdoing within his inner circle. However, he stressed that he had no evidence that Zelensky himself was corrupt.

Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities have been investigating an alleged scheme involving more than $3 million, reportedly linked to efforts to pay bail for a former energy minister accused of money laundering. A senior official in Zelensky’s office who was allegedly connected to the case was subsequently dismissed.

Fedorov, who was himself dismissed last month, said the allegations deserved proper scrutiny and that the Ukrainian president should answer questions surrounding the conduct of officials close to him.

The controversy comes as Ukraine continues to fight Russia while facing growing pressure over governance and accountability.

Fedorov’s comments add to the political pressure on Zelensky, even as the Ukrainian government remains focused on the ongoing war.
