China hosted Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi in Beijing last week for talks focused on bilateral relations and regional developments.
Gharibabadi met Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu on August 17, with both sides discussing closer cooperation and international issues.
The meeting came as tensions between Iran and the United States remain high, with Washington preparing tougher economic sanctions against Tehran. China has rejected sanctions and called for political and diplomatic solutions to the crisis.
The Beijing talks highlight the close relationship between China and Iran as both countries face growing pressure from Washington.
