Calafiori, Havertz and Ødegaard Fire Arsenal to Early Season Silverware 
Arsenal began the new season with a statement victory, beating Manchester City 3-0 to win the 2026 Community Shield at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
Riccardo Calafiori gave the Gunners a dream start, scoring after just 24 seconds following an excellent pass from Myles Lewis-Skelly. It was the fastest Community Shield goal since 1968.
Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 28th minute, before captain Martin Ødegaard added a third shortly after the restart to put the result beyond doubt.
Arsenal Dominate City
Mikel Arteta’s side looked sharper and more organised throughout the match, while City struggled to create clear chances.
Goalkeeper David Raya produced important saves to deny Manchester City, including efforts from Erling Haaland, as Arsenal maintained a clean sheet.
The defeat also made for a difficult competitive debut for Enzo Maresca, who has taken over from Pep Guardiola as City manager.
For Arsenal, the trophy provides an early confidence boost ahead of their Premier League title defence.
The Gunners have sent an early warning to their rivals: they are ready to compete for more silverware.
