48-Year-Old Suspect Arrested at Lagos Airport as Agency Intensifies Crackdown 
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 48-year-old businessman, Nwankwo Innocent Onyebuchi, with 1.55kg of cocaine concealed inside his luggage at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
According to the agency, Onyebuchi was arrested at Terminal II while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to New Delhi, India. Officers reportedly discovered the cocaine hidden inside the walls and railings of his check-in bag.
The suspect, who reportedly deals in marble, allegedly told investigators that he had sold his business and other assets to raise ₦23 million to purchase the drug consignment. He reportedly expected to sell it in India for up to ₦100 million.
NDLEA Recovers More Drugs
The airport arrest was part of a wider series of operations that saw the NDLEA recover various illicit drugs across Lagos and other states.
In Lagos, operatives reportedly seized 324kg of Colorado cannabis, valued at about ₦972 million, while a separate operation uncovered a large stockpile of codeine-based syrup. The agency said the combined value of the seized drugs was about ₦3.6 billion.
The NDLEA said Onyebuchi remains in custody and is expected to face prosecution.
The agency's chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers involved in the operations and said the arrests demonstrate the agency's continued efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks.
