Asian stock markets rose after fresh US inflation data eased fears that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates in September.

South Korea's market jumped about 4.4%, while Japan's Nikkei gained 1.86%. The broader MSCI Asia-Pacific index excluding Japan also moved higher.

US consumer prices increased by just 0.1% in July, in line with expectations. The data reduced market expectations for a September rate hike, with the probability falling to around 40% from 54% a week earlier.

What It Means for Investors

Lower expectations for higher US interest rates can encourage investors to put more money into stocks and other riskier assets.

For businesses and households, the possibility of fewer rate increases could also mean less pressure from borrowing costs, although inflation and energy prices remain important risks.

Markets are still watching oil prices and tensions involving the US and Iran, which could influence inflation in the months ahead.

For now, the latest inflation figures have given investors a reason to breathe easier and push Asian markets higher.
