Argentine President Javier Milei is personally pushing for the return of Formula 1 to Argentina, nearly three decades after the country last hosted a Grand Prix.

Milei said he plans to meet officials from the FIA during the organisation’s Americas Congress in Buenos Aires from August 31 to September 2.
Argentina last hosted an F1 race in 1998, but hopes of a comeback have gained momentum with renovations underway at the Oscar and Juan Gálvez Autodrome in Buenos Aires. The circuit is being upgraded to meet the FIA’s Grade 1 requirements needed to host Formula 1.
The venue has already secured a MotoGP event for 2027, another sign of Argentina’s growing ambitions in international motorsport.
Milei said he would personally work with FIA officials to advance the project, although a return date for F1 has not yet been confirmed.
For Argentine motorsport fans, the dream of seeing Formula 1 racing back on home soil is beginning to look more realistic.
