The previously unreported call came as Washington prepares tougher economic sanctions against Iran and warns countries against helping Tehran.
Pakistan says Munir’s Tehran visit is aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. He is expected to discuss the US-Iran tensions, recent Houthi attacks and Pakistan’s new defence agreement with Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
The White House has not publicly commented on the conversation, and it remains unclear what Trump and Munir discussed.
Munir’s trip highlights Pakistan’s growing role as a mediator as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise.
